Keynote Talks
Leading Through Uncertain Times
In this inspiring and transformational talk, Neil draws on his rich experience as a high-flying magazine editor and Internet entrepreneur who “won and lost it all” and shares a practical philosophy and foundational mindset for dealing with uncertainty based on his deep knowledge of mindfulness principles and vast coaching experience.
“Human beings, and especially business leaders, believe that everything is up to them, that nothing would happen if they didn’t decide it or do it. Yet if you look more carefully, you see that reality takes its own course—it emerges, often despite you. In a world of uncertainty and complexity, Neil shares a well-tested practical philosophy on how you can control less—have less emergency—and get better outcomes, even in the most consequential situations.”

AUTHENTIC LEADERSHIP does not have to mean wearing your heart on your sleeve. Neil takes leaders on a mind-expanding (and heart-inspiring) journey where leaders learn the difference between honesty and authenticity and learn to work with both in a new and powerful way.
Why Honesty is the Best Policy
TEAM PERFORMANCE improves when people are more honest with each other. However, such truthful conversation only happens more easily when it is safe to do so. Neil presents a coaching approach to developing psychological safety—and thereby improving performance—in teams.
Making Monday Great Again!
PEOPLE BECOME authentically engaged and motivated when they treat work as an opportunity for growth. In this motivational talk, Neil shows how to recognise and draw on the deeper benefits of work so that work becomes more fulfilling, even before you find that perfect job.

The Uncertain Times
Subscribe to this inspiring and thought-provoking newsletter in which Neil shares a practical philosophy and foundational mindset for leading through uncertain times. Here’s an excerpt:
Every leader feels the pressure of having to know, of having to have all the answers. They lie awake at night fretting. They present a brave face to their team. They grab at articles like this and scan them for answers. Decision-making frameworks. More acronyms to cram into that tiny space already so full of information and worry. Finding none, but suspecting there may be something of interest, they save for later.
Here’s what you need to know instead. But beware. It’s not a technical answer, wrapped up in an acronym. We have enough of those. Some are already in the donation box. Ready for it?

Subscribe to this challenging and educating Substack newsletter for ordinary people who seek a better, more enlightening, more human conversation and public discourse. Here’s an excerpt:
We live in a time when the old reference points—nationality, race, class, religion, gender—no longer apply. As much as some wish to return to those, that ship no longer sails, and we need to find another way. In short, we need to learn to self-reference without that self-referencing being just another form of ego. Since we humans are linguistic creatures—everything we do begins in language—the answer would seem to lie in having more enlightening conversations—both the conversations we have with ourselves and the ones we have between each other.
